2012 New Spirit Festival

Four weeks to go and excitement is building!  We have Guest Speakers from Africa, America, Australia, Europe and NZ, and a seasoned Festival goer contacted us to say the Seminar Programme was the ‘best yet’.  I certainly agree that the range and variety of topics is excellent, and the quality of the 45 Speakers and Presenters is very high.

Don’t miss the chance to hear herbal legend Malcolm Harker talk about his life and work, a rare occasion this as he has not done seminars previously.  Jeanette Wilson, star of TV’s Dare to Believe, makes her first appearance at the Festival, as well as former South African television medium Marietta who has recently moved here.  Good Morning numerologist Michelle Buchanan is with us again, and fresh from her European tarot trip is columnist Fern Mercier.  Actress, singer and vocal coach Sally Stockwell presents Sing Your Heart Out, and Gary Cook will take you to the Sacred Landscape of Aotearoa.  From the UK comes Brian Keneipp to illuminate Your Journey to Enlightenment, and with years of training and experience in Europe, Kayla Mckenzie-Kopp presents The Shadow of Your Family Tree.  There are 42 seminars and activities planned.

The Expo will feature over 50 stands, and the Healing & Astrology Area will be larger this time.  The Readers Area will have 18 readers of all types.  Good food is available all day in the café on the third floor.   Moving to February we are hoping for good weather, and have programmed two events – NIA dance and Sika - for outside on the grass, but these are weather dependent.

Healing Colours

Long before we were afraid of the sun in the well-known healing temple of the ancient Greek city of Heliopolis, sunlight was broken down into rainbow colours which were then used to treat ailments and illnesses. Fortunately this knowledge was not lost over the many years that have passed since then but only quite recently science could proof the reason why colours have healing properties. Every colour swings at a certain vibration and if this vibration hits an organism the resonance can eliminate blockages and enhance supporting mechanisms for healing.

In fact your whole body acts like a big living photocell which absorbs light through the skin and the eyes. Both organs are equipped with cells which receive the vibration of light and pass the stimulus to nerve cells, meridian energy pathways and the hormonal system. Colours as parts of light will provoke specific reactions in the body.

Warm colours like red and orange penetrate the skin the strongest, they are colours of vitality and stimulation. While red is a very physical colour which stimulates blood flow and the production of blood cells, while orange triggers joy and happiness, which can help to overcome chronic tiredness and a weak immune system. Yellow is the colour of the sun, acts mentally stimulating and strengthening the nerves. In the spectrum of the rainbow colours green is the colour of nature. It has a very harmonising effect, promotes feeling of contentment and tranquility. When applied to inflamed joints it helps to calm the pain and inflammation. The coolness of blue inspires peace, quietness and wisdom. It signifies space like the blue in the sky and the blue of the sea. This relaxing colour promotes healthy sleep and brings overactive kids down. Purple is often associated with spirituality and inspiration as it acts on the subconscious mind. It balances the nervous system which helps patients suffering mental or nervous disorders to transform their anxieties, obsessions and fears.

Ancient healing systems like the Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Ayuvedic Chakra System use colours to promote healing. The Chinese would assign colours to the 5 Elements fire, earth, metal, water and wood which correspond with specific organ systems. You find the colours of the rainbow assigned to the different chakras starting with a dark red to the base chakra, going on to orange for the second, yellow for the solar plexus and green for the heart chakra. Blue is the colour for the throat, as dark indigo blue is assigned for the third eye and purple for the crown chakra.

How can you use this information in your daily life?

• wear a red top when you want to feel energetic and convey enthusiasm to your co-workers, but avoid wearing red when you have high blood pressure.
• look at something yellow when you need a pick-me-up, when you feel low in energy and tired, but don’t look at yellow when you are irritable and nauseated.
• make your skin glow by drinking plenty of water that has been soaking up the rays of the sun and with it the colour spectrum of light.
• orange fruits such as oranges, mangoes, pawpaws and apricots in the morning will help you to greet the day with enthusiasm, they will support digestion and a healthy immune system.
• painted blue walls in a child’s room will calm down overactive kids while phlegmatic kids can use red lights for better concentration while doing their homework.
• many yellow spring flowers like daffodils, tulips and narcissi clear and purify the ground and air it after the winter months.
• if you suffer from cold feet wear red socks as they boost circulation and stimulate blood flow.
• take a green bath after a long and hard day, it will balance and relax your mind and thoughts, it will calm the nerves and muscles and gives a feeling of harmony and peace.
• wear yellow glasses on a gloomy, rainy day to alleviate depression and immediate impression of brightness, lightness and serenity. This also stimulates learning.

David Foster, New Spirit Festival Guest Speaker, and medium and channel for over 30 years, speaks to Chris Cooper.

What were the first inklings that you had psychic abilities?

Well, golly, it goes right back to the death of my father in 1969.  I was 22 at the time, and my mum was clairvoyant, and my sister does readings – Vicky Grace – and I felt my dad was gone from here but he must be alive somewhere else.  Most people didn’t know about the afterlife, and Mum used to tell us what she saw, and I took that as a natural thing.  But speaking with friends, their mothers or fathers didn’t do that.  The sayings then were like ‘you’re a long time dead’, ‘six foot under’ etc and that was the end of life.  But I started to find out it wasn’t the end but just the beginning.

I went along to some spiritualist churches and got some amazing confirmation that he was still around.  I wasn’t even thinking about him at the time, but they would describe him and little habits that he had, it was wonderful.  I immediately thought I’d love to do this too, to help other people.

I then went to the Carlton Gore Spiritualist Church and met Chick and Liz Lowson who were running it at the time, and said I’d love to become a medium – I was a bit green of course – and they said well there’s a lot of hard work in it, I didn’t really know anything about it then, but Chick took my number and later on I got a call one night to say they had an opening in a development group, would I like to join?  I thought great but whereabouts in Auckland is he living, and, you would never believe it, but he was living two doors up from us!

My wife Sue was lucky enough to come along as well and we started developing healing, psychometry, clairvoyance, and what they called control in those days which we now call channelling.   I started developing my clairvoyance, and sometimes Liz would stand behind me, hands over my head, and say “You got a gift there David – not sure what it is, but there’s a gift there!”

When we came on to the channeling part, all of a sudden I would start experiencing the energy of someone trying to come through and I’d hold back, because I would doubt so much.  They were wanting to come through, and Liz said, ‘just let it flow, let it flow’, so that’s how that started.  As I developed my clairvoyance I visited spiritualist churches doing clairvoyance around NZ, and toured for about 16 years.  I was working as a salesperson so combined the two, and all the while my channelling was developing.

The first guide to come through in the channelling was Sitting Bull.  He came through for a few years, and then I felt there was a change, and one night I had an amazing dream – I was standing in this room, and I saw seven people in white robes down one end of the room.  I couldn’t see their faces, but they were just standing there.  I remember saying ‘Who are you?’, and the spokesperson said ‘Urius’.  I said who in the world is Urius?  What does that mean?  He explained it was the name they would be channelling  through and ‘that means you are one with us’.  In the morning I told Sue what had happened, and that was when the change started and Urius started to come through.  It began with symbols in the beginning, and developed from there.  As the Urius group became stronger, after a while we started our own group, and probably Urius has been coming through for about 26 years now.

The next significant event was a trip to India, the first of three trips we have taken.  I knew there was something sort of missing – I thought you can’t really be born, learn and grow up to be a teenager and then an adult, grow old and that’s it.  I knew there was life after death, but not how it happened, how it was all facilitated.  I met gurus and others, but it didn’t quite click.  Then I read “The Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramhansa Yogananda, and that led to discovering Kriya yoga and learning about the three universes.  As I got into Kriya Yoga, Urius began teaching all the basic things about that and Chakra systems and other subjects.

So that was how it happened, and now we have a group of about 10 that has been going for quite a few years now, and we sit once a fortnight.  For me the experience starts with deep breathing for a while, and then Urius feels it’s right, the crossover occurs and he comes in and starts talking.  It’s quite a simple process now, he can channel with his eyes open and walk around the room.  I normally sit cross legged on the floor, and people can ask him questions.  When he comes through, for me it’s like I’m listening to someone talk on a platform, and not interfering.  If I started thinking things, this would disrupt the flow, because Urius is using the faculties of the mind, so my mind has to be calm and still so he can speak freely.  At the end, the process is reversed and we can discuss what has been said. 

Early last century, and up to the 60s, most mediums were trance mediums, that is they lost consciousness and didn’t know what was being said.  Maurice Barton who channelled Silver Birch was like that.  But these days it is more common to channel as we do.

Did Uruis indicate what his background was?

The explanation was that they had liberated and freed themselves from bondage of creation, as they expressed it, and had lived in the Physical universe.  Most people on earth come from the Astral universe, or what we might call heaven, but there is another universe, the Causal, so we have the three universes, and beyond creation is the Infinite Spirit.

What Urius says is that they have walked in our shoes and been through incarnation after incarnation in our universe, learning to strip away attachments and desires from all their lifetimes, and go beyond creation, beyond god to Infinite Spirit, which is formless.  Each universe is like a blueprint of the other, and each gets more magnificent as you go through them, and this is the catch.  If you get too attached to a universe, you can stay there, and not progress.  So that’s the aim of creation for us - we’ve come from beyond creation, and we have to work our way back, through the thousands of past lives we’ve had, to burn away karma, desired, attachments and get back to god.

When Urius is channeling, what’s happening to you?

I’m like a formless being, hanging in the ether, just listening.  I always come back feeling like a million dollars, and sometimes the bliss comes through to everyone in the room, wonderful feelings.

How has Urius changed your life?

Now I know what we’re here for and what life is all about, it has changed.  Not in the physical side, I  mean I still have to work and deal with day to day problems, but with the channeling and the after effects of Kriya yoga etc, it has changed me inside, spiritually, and my whole outlook on life.  In the personal channeling sessions I do, and sometimes it involves breakthroughs for people who may have problems or seek certain information, the satisfaction and bliss that is experienced is extremely rewarding for me.

Is Urius talking about the future?

Yes, he will mention that the earth is rumbling in some part of the world, and shortly after earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, etc occur.  It is really a like a course we’re on and presently we’re doing breath mantras at the moment which really powerful.  As for the future, Urius tells us we’re on an upwards spiral, so that’s much better than if we were on the other side of the arc, coming down!

Tell us about the Symbol of the Urius Group

The Symbol of Urius is a Seven-Pointed, Golden Star enclosed within a Golden Circle.  The Star represents the Seven Major Chakras, connecting with the Seven Dimensions of Mankind, the Seven Great Angelic Beings who are Creation.   The Circle represents no Beginning and no End, for the Completion, of the Physical, Astral and Causal forms, for Liberation and ultimately Self Realization.
